Tracking down this maraca-shaking character is vital for players who want to carry more weapons, shields, and bows throughout their journey in Hyrule. Fortunately, Hestu follows a specific movement pattern across a few locations based on your overall game progression.
Finding Hestu Near Lindors Brow
Your very first encounter with Hestu takes place in the Hebra region, northwest of the Central Hyrule area. He can be spotted standing fearfully near the base of the Lindors Brow Skyview Tower, just off the main road leading up from the New Serenne Stable. Before he can help you expand your inventory, you will need to assist him by defeating a couple of nearby aggressive tree monsters.
After managing this brief combat challenge, Hestu will happily reward you by offering your first couple of bag expansions. He will only stay in this introductory location for a short period before packing up his instruments to find a safer place to rest. Tracking down this initial spot sets the foundation for your inventory management during the early hours of the campaign.
The Transition to Lookout Landing
Once you secure his initial upgrades, Hestu relocates directly to the bustling hub of Lookout Landing to remain closer to civilization. You can easily find him standing under a large tree within the southeastern corner of the fort grounds. This central position makes it incredibly easy to fast travel back and spend your seeds without long treks across the wilderness.
He typically remains stationed at Lookout Landing for a major portion of the mid-game experience. Players can regularly visit him here to slowly max out their gear slots as they discover hidden spirits across the surface and sky islands. However, his final destination changes once you successfully clear a major corruption plaguing a historic forest landmark.
Unlocking the Permanent Korok Forest Home
The ultimate destination for the maraca player is deep within the Great Hyrule Forest, specifically inside the Korok Forest itself. Reaching this legendary sanctuary requires navigating the depths beneath the woods and ascending into the center of the village. You must also defeat the phantom menace lurking beneath the roots of the Great Deku Tree to restore peace to the woodland area.
Once the forest is successfully cleansed of its malice, Hestu will permanently return to his roots alongside his smaller companion spirits. You will find him dancing near the center of the village plaza for the remainder of your playthrough. Visiting him in his true home allows you to safely trade away your remaining collectibles to achieve absolute inventory capacity.
